Parallel lines are like train tracks โ they run side by side and never meet! They always stay the same distance apart, no matter how far you extend them. Think of the opposite sides of a rectangle or the lines on a ruled notebook paper. They have the same slope and different y-intercepts.
Intersecting lines, on the other hand, cross each other at a point. Imagine two roads crossing or the hands of a clock (except when they're parallel!). When two lines intersect, they form angles at the point of intersection. They have different slopes.
