A food chain illustrates how energy, in the form of food, passes from one organism to another. It always starts with a producer, like a plant, which makes its own food using sunlight. Then comes a consumer, an animal that eats the plant. If another animal eats that animal, the chain continues!

• 🧠 Question: What did you eat for breakfast? Where did that food come from? Discuss how the food you ate is connected to plants or animals.

🌳 Main Instruction

1. 🔍 Producers: Plants are called producers because they produce their own food through photosynthesis. They use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make glucose (sugar) for energy.

2. 🐛 Consumers: Animals are consumers because they consume other organisms for energy. There are different types of consumers:
   • 🌿 Herbivores: Eat only plants (e.g., rabbits, cows).
   • 🥩 Carnivores: Eat only other animals (e.g., lions, snakes).
   • 🍕 Omnivores: Eat both plants and animals (e.g., humans, bears).
3. ➡️ Energy Flow: Energy flows from producers to consumers. When an herbivore eats a plant, it gets energy from the plant. When a carnivore eats an herbivore, it gets energy from the herbivore.
   • ⚡ Energy Loss: Energy is lost at each step in the food chain, mainly as heat. That's why food chains usually don't have more than 4 or 5 links.
