๐ What is Light?
Light is a form of energy that allows us to see the world around us. It travels in waves, similar to how ripples move across a pond when you throw a stone in. Without light, everything would be dark! There are two main types of light sources: natural and artificial.
โ๏ธ Natural Light Sources
Natural light comes from things that exist in nature. The most important natural light source for us is the sun.
- โ๏ธ The Sun: The sun is a giant star that produces a huge amount of light and heat. This light travels to Earth, allowing plants to grow and us to see during the day.
- ๐ Stars: Like the sun, other stars in the night sky produce their own light. They appear much smaller and dimmer because they are very far away.

Artificial light is created by humans. We use many different types of artificial light sources every day.

- ๐ฏ๏ธ Candles: Candles produce light by burning wax. They have been used for light for thousands of years.
- ๐ฑ Screens (TVs, Phones, Tablets): The screens on our electronic devices emit light, allowing us to see images and videos.

Let's try some simple experiments to explore natural and artificial light!
Experiment 1: Shadow Puppets

- ๐ฆ Instructions: Turn off the lights in a room. Shine the flashlight at the wall. Place your hands between the flashlight and the wall to create different shadow puppets. Experiment with moving your hands closer and further away from the light to change the size and sharpness of the shadows.
Experiment 2: Sunlight and Shadows Outdoors
