📚 Who Were the Pilgrims?

The Pilgrims were a group of people who wanted to practice their religion freely. They traveled from England to North America in 1620 on a ship called the Mayflower. They were looking for a new home where they could live and worship as they pleased.

🤝 Who Were the Native Americans?

Native Americans had lived in North America for thousands of years before the Pilgrims arrived. They had their own languages, cultures, and ways of life. The Wampanoag tribe lived in the area where the Pilgrims settled.

• 🏘️ Wampanoag Tribe: This tribe lived where the Pilgrims built Plymouth.

🦃 The First Thanksgiving

The Pilgrims had a very difficult first winter in North America. Many of them got sick and died. The Wampanoag helped the Pilgrims by teaching them how to grow food and survive in the new land. In the autumn of 1621, the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag shared a meal to celebrate the harvest. This is often called the first Thanksgiving.
