📚 Topic Summary
The Earth is always spinning, like a top! This spinning is called rotation. Because the Earth is round, only one side can face the sun at a time. The side facing the sun has daylight, and the side facing away from the sun has nighttime. As the Earth spins, different parts of it move into and out of the sunlight, giving us day and night. It takes Earth about 24 hours to make one complete rotation, which is why we have a 24-hour day.
