๐ What is Litter?
Litter is trash that is not put in a trash can. It can be things like candy wrappers, plastic bottles, paper, or anything else that people leave behind instead of throwing away properly.
๐ฑ Why Shouldn't We Drop Litter?
- ๐๏ธ It's Bad for Nature: Litter can hurt plants and animals. Animals might try to eat it and get sick, or get tangled in it.
- ๐ง It Pollutes Water: Rain can wash litter into rivers and lakes, making the water dirty and unsafe.
- ๐ธ It Makes Places Look Messy: Litter makes parks, streets, and beaches look dirty and unpleasant for everyone.
- ๐ก๏ธ It Can Be Dangerous: Broken glass or sharp metal can hurt people and animals.
- ๐ It Takes a Long Time to Disappear: Some litter, like plastic, can stay in the environment for hundreds of years!
๐ก What Can We Do?
- ๐๏ธ Always Use a Trash Can: If you have trash, find a trash can to throw it away.
- ๐ Carry a Bag: If there's no trash can nearby, carry a bag to put your trash in until you find one.
- ๐ค Help Clean Up: If you see litter, pick it up and throw it away (with an adult's help, if needed!).
