π What are Plural Nouns?
Plural nouns are simply words that represent more than one of something. Usually, you make a noun plural by adding an -s to the end. But sometimes, it's a little different!
π Basic Plural Formation
- β Adding -s: The most common way to make a noun plural is by adding an
-s.
- βοΈ Example: cat becomes cats, dog becomes dogs, book becomes books.
β Special Plural Forms
- β¨ Words ending in -s, -sh, -ch, -x, or -z: Add
-es to make them plural.
- π¦ Example: box becomes boxes, dish becomes dishes, watch becomes watches.
- π± Words ending in -y (with a consonant before the -y): Change the
-y to -i and add -es.
- π§Έ Example: baby becomes babies, city becomes cities, party becomes parties.
- π Words ending in -f or -fe: Sometimes, you change the
-f to -v and add -es.
- π Example: leaf becomes leaves, wife becomes wives, wolf becomes wolves.

Some words have completely different plural forms that you just have to memorize!
