"Sentence Starters": Ask students to come up with different subjects (e.g., "The dog," "My friend," "The sun") and write them on the board. Then, ask them to add predicates to make complete sentences.

1. 🔍 Defining the Subject

   • 🙋 The subject is who or what the sentence is about.
   • 👧 It's usually a noun (a person, place, thing, or idea) or a pronoun (like he, she, it, they).
   • 💡 Example: The cat sleeps on the couch. (The cat is the subject.)

2. ✍️ Defining the Predicate

   • 💬 The predicate tells what the subject does or is.
   • 🤸 It always includes a verb (an action word or a state of being).
   • 📌 Example: The cat sleeps on the couch. (Sleeps on the couch is the predicate.)

3. 🤝 Putting It Together

   • 🧩 Every complete sentence needs both a subject and a predicate.
