Plural nouns indicate more than one of something. English has two main types: regular and irregular. Regular plural nouns are the easiest; you typically just add -s or -es to the end of the singular form (e.g., cat β cats, box β boxes). The rules for adding -es usually apply to nouns ending in -s, -x, -z, -ch, or -sh.
Irregular plural nouns, however, don't follow a simple rule. Their plural forms change in various ways, sometimes changing a vowel (man β men), adding a different ending (child β children), or not changing at all (sheep β sheep). Mastering these requires memorization and practice, as they don't conform to a standard pattern.
