Authors are like story architects or fact-tellers! Every time they write, they have a specific reason for putting words on a page. This reason is called the author's purpose. For Grade 4, we usually focus on three main purposes, often remembered with the acronym P.I.E.:
- 🎯 Persuade: When an author wants to convince you to believe something or do something. Think advertisements or opinion pieces!
- 💡 Inform: When an author wants to give you facts, details, or instructions about a topic. Think textbooks, news articles, or how-to guides!
