๐ Understanding Point of View: First & Third Person
When you read a story, the "point of view" is like looking through a window โ it's the perspective from which the story is told. For Grade 4, we focus on two main types: First-Person and Third-Person. Knowing the difference helps you understand who is telling the story and how much they know!
First-Person Point of View is when a character inside the story is telling it. They use words like "I," "me," "my," and "we." It's like they're talking directly to you about their own experiences and feelings. For example, "I walked to the park, and I saw my friend." Third-Person Point of View is when the story is told by someone outside the story, like an invisible narrator. This narrator uses words like "he," "she," "it," and "they." They can tell you about what different characters are doing or thinking. For example, "She walked to the park, and she saw her friend." Learning to spot these clues makes reading even more exciting!
