📚 Quick Study Guide: Pronoun Agreement
- 💡 What is a Pronoun? A word that takes the place of a noun. (e.g., he, she, it, they, you, we).
- 🤝 What is Pronoun Agreement? A pronoun must agree with its antecedent (the noun it replaces) in number (singular/plural) and gender (masculine/feminine/neutral).
- 👤 Singular Pronouns: Use with singular antecedents. (e.g., 'A student' uses 'he' or 'she' or 'they' if gender isn't specified).
- 👥 Plural Pronouns: Use with plural antecedents. (e.g., 'Students' use 'they').
- 🔑 Indefinite Pronouns: Some are always singular (e.g., everyone, anyone, somebody, no one, each, either, neither). Others are always plural (e.g., both, few, many, several). Some can be singular or plural (e.g., all, any, most, none, some), depending on the noun they refer to.
- 🔗 Compound Subjects: If two or more singular antecedents are joined by 'and', use a plural pronoun. If joined by 'or' or 'nor', the pronoun agrees with the antecedent closest to it.
