📚 What is Poetic Language?
Poetic language uses literary devices to enhance meaning and create a specific effect. It goes beyond everyday speech to evoke emotions and paint pictures with words.
- ✨ Simile: Compares two things using "like" or "as." Example: "The moon is like a silver coin."
- 🌠 Metaphor: Compares two things without using "like" or "as," stating one thing *is* another. Example: "The world is a stage."
- 🧍 Personification: Gives human qualities to non-human things. Example: "The wind whispered secrets."
- 🗣️ Alliteration: Repeats the same consonant sound at the beginning of words. Example: "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers."
- 📢 Onomatopoeia: Words that imitate sounds. Example: "The bee buzzed."
- ⬆️ Hyperbole: An exaggeration for emphasis or effect. Example: "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse!"
- 🎭 Imagery: Descriptive language that appeals to the five senses (sight, sound, smell, taste, touch). Example: "The crimson sunset painted the sky with fiery hues."
