π Unlocking Simple Sentences: Subjects & Predicates for Grade 1
Learning about simple sentences is a foundational step in English Language Arts, especially for first graders. Every complete simple sentence tells us two main things: who or what the sentence is about, and what that person or thing is doing or being. The 'who or what' part is called the Subject, and the 'doing or being' part is called the Predicate. Understanding these two parts helps young learners build strong sentences and comprehend what they read.
For example, in the sentence "The cat sleeps," 'The cat' is the Subject because it tells us who the sentence is about, and 'sleeps' is the Predicate because it tells us what the cat is doing. This worksheet will provide fun practice to help first graders easily identify these key parts!
