📚 Is Counting Pennies Different?
Counting pennies is just like counting anything else! The important thing is that each penny (or toy, or book) represents one thing. When we count, we're just adding up how many "ones" we have.
➕ The Idea of 'One'
Think of it this way: whether you're counting shiny pennies or fluffy teddy bears, you're still counting individual items. Each item gets a number, and we keep going until we've counted them all!
- 🍎 Apples: One apple, two apples, three apples...
- 🪙 Pennies: One penny, two pennies, three pennies...
- 🧸 Teddy Bears: One teddy bear, two teddy bears, three teddy bears...
💰 Pennies and Value
One difference is that pennies have a value. Each penny is worth one cent. So, if you have 5 pennies, you have 5 cents. But counting the pennies is still the same basic counting we do with anything else!

- 🔢 Say it Loud: Say the number clearly as you count each item.

We can write this as an equation:

You would have 5 pennies!
