➕ Topic Summary
Adding with regrouping (also known as carrying) is what we do when the sum of the digits in a column is more than 9. For example, if you're adding 28 and 35, you add the ones column (8 + 5 = 13). Since 13 is more than 9, you regroup it as 1 ten and 3 ones. You carry the 1 ten over to the tens column and add it there. Then you add the tens column (1 + 2 + 3 = 6). So, 28 + 35 = 63. It's all about making sure each place value (ones, tens, hundreds, etc.) only has one digit!
